THE SEARCH FOR THE PAST OF EULALIO MUNOZ BEGINS NOW (FEB.2, 1933 - JULY 24, 1977)

(Feb. 12, 1933 - July 24, 1977)

It has been 32-year, three months with seven days since the death of Eulalio Munoz - my father. For the first time in 11,777 days, a formal and organized search has begun with the writing of this post on this October 31, 2009.

It has long been overdue, but the road starts now. When my search ends not only will I know who my father was, but I will have adopted an entirely knew family. I will fill in the blanks of a man whom the world does not even know has passed away.

Why is it that I begin to search now after 32 years?

Out of respect for my mother. You see, the picture above is a picture of both my mother and father in Chicago. My mother did not know where Eulalio Munoz was from, nor where he was born and neither if he had family. She stated that she was simply happy that he loved her. My mother recently passed away on May 5, 2009. Until the moment of my mother's death, she could not tell me anything about my father.

There was nothing to tell.

In the next couple of weeks, I will be petitioning for my father's file to the Justice Department and the Department of Defense of the United States (for those in other countries) under the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT. My quest to find information on who my father was will begin.

For those reading, you might think that I did not know my father, actually I did. We lived together under the same roof for 9-years until he died in 1977. However, as my father - I knew nothing of his past either.

Actually, I do not even know if "Eulalio Munoz" was his name, at least we know that he chose to be called by that name. Surely I will have answers sooner rather than later.

As you can see by the picture in this post, my father is holding me in his arms - June of 1968, the caption states. I was less than 60 days old.
